Sean Mosby, EWI’s Policy Manager and Abigail Bright, Barrister at Doughty Street Chambers provide an update on some of the latest cases and share important learning points for Expert Witnesses and instructing solicitors.  Highlighting concerns illustrated by recent judgments, some of the issues that can arise in the relationship between the Solicitor and the Expert, and how to avoid them.

This webinar is aimed at practicing expert witnesses.

Abigail was called to the Bar (Middle Temple, Queen Mother Scholarship) in 2010 after reading for the BCL in Jurisprudence (Distinction) at Balliol College, University of Oxford.  She practises from Doughty Street Chambers as a general common law barrister; she has expertise in questions of special jurisdiction in criminal and civil law (including terrorism, very high value fraud, and extradition and mutual legal assistance).  As a Bar Council (Ethics Committee) ethics hotline volunteer, she assists barristers to give effect to the BSB Handbook and the Code of Conduct when barristers ‘phone the hotline with urgent legal ethics questions.  Abigail teaches law and ethics at the LSE’s Law School.  She has conducted thirty-minute mock cross-examinations for the EWI of expert witnesses in medicolegal fields of practice – including a consultant clinical immunologist and a consultant neurologist – who applied to the EWI to be accredited.

Training and Events - Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations received more than 50 business days prior to the event – A full refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 26 -50 business days prior to the event – A 75% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received 16-25 business days prior to the event – A 50% refund will be given.
  • Cancellations received less than 15 business days prior to the event – no refund will be given.

Please note, any delegates who do not attend on the day will not receive a refund.  Access to the event will be denied if payment in advance has not been made.

The EWI reserve the right to cancel any event with a minimum of 3 business days’ notice and will provide a full refund to delegates.
